Seen in the Cinema π¬
Directed by Matt Shakman
Starring: Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Joseph Quinn
"This movie works! Nothing exceptional, nothing out of the ordinary, but a mostly solid first franchise movie. Definitely one of the better Marvel productions from the last couple of years."
Superman
Directed by James Gunn
Starring: David Corenswet, Rachel Brosnahan, Nicholas Hoult, Edi Gathegi
"I guess I was overhyped and I didnβt expect it to be a kids movie. Itβs colourful, itβs fun, itβs very comics-like. But itβs hard for me when the plot does not make sense. Especially if you add the fact that both Superman and Lex Luthor are stupid AF. In the end, it didnβt feel like there was much of Superman in this new incarnation. But I guess thereβs hope for you if you didnβt like Man of Steel!"
Movies
Bros
Directed by Nicholas Stoller
Starring: Billy Eichner, Luke Macfarlane, Guy Branum, Miss Lawrence
"It started a lot better than I anticipated with clever dialogues and a more-realistic-than-usual setting. But it suffers from the most common romcom disease: a clichΓ© third act that is stretching the movie to no end. It should just be illegal for romcoms to be longer than 90min."
"Cute, smart and romantic but it was way too long."
Thelma
Directed by Josh Margolin
Starring: June Squibb, Fred Hechinger, Richard Roundtree, Parker Posey
"If youβre in for a fun heist movie with oldies, look no further. But donβt think itβs just mindless fun, this movie also talks about growing old and what it means."
"Refreshingly funny and heartwarming! Itβs a big lesson on how old people experience their own aging process. Itβs a story about happiness, resilience, and living life to the fullest, but in a very kind and light-toned way. Ideal for a pick-me-up Sunday afternoon."
Le Deuxième Acte (The Second Act)
Directed by Quentin Dupieux
Starring: LΓ©a Seydoux, Louis Garrel, Vincent Lindon, RaphaΓ«l Quenard
"This director never ceases to amaze me with his non-sensical movies. The jaded French counterpart of The Studio."
"Amazingly creative and weird, itβs a tale within a tale that is funnily executed and that somehow forms both a parody and an intellectual critique of the role of acting and filmmaking. Not for the average viewer."
Thunderbolts*
Directed by Jake Schreier
Starring: Florence Pugh, Sebastian Stan, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Lewis Pullman
"These poor manβs Avengers have much more flow than I anticipated! This movie doesnβt revolutionise anything, but it has the right balance of action, comedy and drama. And honestly, how often do you see depression addressed in the Marvel universe?"
Directed by Gareth Edwards
Starring: Felicity Jones, Diego Luna, Alan Tudyk, Donnie Yen
"After watching the season 1 and season 2 of Andor, this movie takes a whole other meaning compared with my first watch. Itβs by far the best Star Wars movie since the first trilogy. The cost of freedom has never been higher."
TV Series
Andor
Directed by Alonso Ruizpalacios
Starring: Diego Luna
"Just like season 1, it took me a few episodes to get into it, but after that, itβs incredible. This world feels so real. How the empire machine is shredding into pieces both the rebels and the imperials is a marvel to witness. And even though you already know exactly where this is going thanks to Rogue One and Episode 4, seeing the events unfold made me invested like I never was when it comes to Star Wars."
γγ³γγγ³ (Dan Da Dan)
Starring: Shion Wakayama, Natsuki Hanae, Mayumi Tanaka, Nana Mizuki
"Crazy AF, fun as hell and beautiful animation, itβs a great start for this series!"
