Hello movie lovers,
We are LATE. But as the saying goes, better late than never. So here is a quick catch-up of our month of March.
In short, do not miss out on Severance season 2 and I'm Still Here (Ainda Estou Aqui) which you might still be able to catch at the cinema.
Expect the April recap to also come out this week and pray for our souls so that we find a more regular publishing schedule (don't dream too hard though π« ).
Don't be fooled by the current awesome weather, it's just a trick from the Anti-Entertainment Alliance lobby to keep you away from the TV. Be strong and don't let them win!

Mickey 17
Directed by Bong Joon Ho
Starring: Robert Pattinson, Naomi Ackie, Steven Yeun, Mark Ruffalo
"Nothing ground-breaking in this movie, but fun sci-fi non-sense that will probably make you think about ethical questions you didnβt existed. Impeccable interpretation from Robert Pattinson."
"In the moment I thought, βwow, what a clever and original movieβ. Robert Pattinsonβs acting is versatile and funny, but coming from the director of Parasite I expected more. The social issues are there and the reflection it brings is an interesting one. "
Ainda Estou Aqui (I'm Still Here)
Directed by Walter Salles
Starring: Fernanda Torres, Selton Mello, Valentina Herszage, BΓ‘rbara Luz
"A carefully crafted biopic shedding light on the dark path Brazil took with the military dictatorship. Poignant, beautifully portrayed and directed. After seeing a movie like this, you understand there can be no normalcy in every day life, as every little thing is tainted by a rational fear."
"This one hit me hard. Growing up in a Latin-American country meant that political prosecution, kidnapping, and the rise and fall of foreign ideologies were always present. The story of this family is the story of the whole continent, one that has been marked by totalitarianism, war, inequality and resilience. This movie is beautifully designed, incredibly scripted and directed and has a touch of simplicity that makes impossible not to admire. It reminds us that to achieve a great movie thereβs no need to show-off, to inject trillions in special effects or to have a cast that surpasses regular beauty standards. All you need is a great story, strong actors and a sensitive director with a vision. A MUST SEE!"
Movies
Late Night
Directed by Nisha Ganatra
Starring: Emma Thompson, Mindy Kaling, Max Casella, Hugh Dancy
"A cute comedy with kind-hearted and well-intentioned characters. Jokes are funny and razor-sharp. You can tell it was crafted by a comedian. Worth a watch if youβre looking for an above-average light comedy."
"Cute movie, funny and entertaining with a little bit of depth and the absurdity that sometimes characterises comedian-written scripts. Perfect for a lazy night when a laugh, a big bowl of popcorn and a chocolate bar are what our bodies are asking for."
Batman
Directed by Tim Burton
Starring: Jack Nicholson, Kim Basinger, Michael Keaton, Robert Wuhl
"I hadn't watched that movie since I was a kid and it was really interesting to see it with my adult eyes. It might be the most comic book-like superhero movie I have ever seen. Tim Burton really nailed it, it makes me really curious about what his Superman could have been. Jack Nicholson plays the part perfectly and Michael Keston brings a unique quirkiness to Bruce Wayne. Only the love story is hardly believable, which seems to be a recurring theme in Batman movies."
TV Series
Ramy
Directed by Ramy Youssef
Starring: Ramy Youssef, May Calamawy, Hiam Abbass, Amr Waked
"Less impactful than the previous seasons, but still just as enjoyable. Ramy explores new ways to get lost."
Severance
Directed by Ben Stiller
Starring: Adam Scott, Britt Lower, Tramell Tillman, Zach Cherry
"A new season following up brilliantly from what had been laid down previously, and leaving you with a thirst for more. Deliciously paced (at least when followed weekly), your brain will work overtime trying to understand what is happening and crafting theories to make sense of this world. Reminding me of the glory days of Lost."
DAVE
Directed by Kitao Sakurai
Starring: Lil Dicky, Taylor Misiak, Andrew Santino, GaTa
"With every new season of Dave, I feel like everything that was built up previous season vanishes when it comes to character development. Which makes me feel like I am being taken for a fool. But this show is sometimes struck by flashes of brilliance making it worth watching. A satisfying end for Daveβs character, less for the supporting cast."
Dragon Ball DAIMA
Directed by Yoshitaka Yashima
"The worst thing that ever happened to Dragon Ball. Beautiful animation to slap any fan in the face. Cynical producers at their best."
